The Pirates are offensively challenged once again, as they come in ranked 26th in the league in scoring (3.80 rpg) and 18th in hitting (.249). The pitching for this team has been very average, as they rank 16th in ERA (3.80) and 16th in WHIP (1.31). Getting the ball for the Pirates tonight will be Brandon Crumpton, who is 0-1 with a 3.38 ERA in 3 starts this year. Brandon faced the Dodgers once last year and allowed 3 ERs in 5 innings of work in a 5-3 Dodgers win.
The Dodgers had been playing very well, but they come in having dropped 3 straight games. Pick: Ryu has struggled at home this year, but he will be facing a weak Pirates offense in this one and I see him having his best home start of the year. The LA offense struggled last night, but I see them bouncing back strong in this one vs Crumpton, who is really not all that great. The Dodgers are 15-3 in Ryu's last 18 starts vs a team with a losing record, while the Pirates are 5-13 in their last 18 as a road dog. LA gets one back here and breaks their losing streak.
