Memorial Day Major League Baseball New York Yankees vs St. Louis Cardinals Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

MLB Picks: St. Louis Cardinals vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

Memorial Day Major League Baseball takes place Monday when the St. Louis Cardinals welcome in the New York Yankees. The game is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the odds for the game have St. Louis favored to pick up the win.

The St. Louis Cardinals picked up a win on Sunday Night Baseball over the Cincinnati Reds. They'll be on national television again for Memorial Day baseball, hosting the New York Yankees in a battle of team full of tradition and World Series titles.

Both New York and St. Louis sit in second place for their respective divisions. The Yankees hold a record of 26-23 and sit two games back in the American League East behind the Toronto Blue Jays. The Yankees are 15-12 in road games this season and have been out-scored by six runs in their 49 total games. New York has finished their last 10 games with a 6-4 record overall. The Cardinals have a 14-7 record in home games this season and they sit one game back in the National League Central behind the Milwaukee Brewers. The Cardinals are red hot, winning eight of their last 10 games overall and nine of 11 heading into this game on Monday.

Michael Wacha will get the ball for the Cardinals in this contest, despite batting some inflammation problems in his elbow. Wacha leads the Cardinals with 66 strikeouts on the season and has a record of 3-3 for the year. At one point earlier this season the Cards has lost five straight Wacha starts, but they've picked up victories in two straight Wacha starts. He's allowed only two earned runs in those wins while striking out nine hitters total against the Chicago Cubs and Arizona Diamondbacks.

Only Brian McCann, who singled against Wacha, has faced the St. Louis starter from the Yankee lineup.

New York is sending Chase Whitley to the mound. He's started just two games this season and nobody on St. Louis' roster has faced the young right-handed pitcher for the Yankees. The rookie hasn't lost in two starts, but he hasn't earned his first win, either. Whitley hasn't gotten outside of the fifth inning in either of his two starts but he'll look to eat up some innings in this game as C.C. Sabathia continues to get back from being on the disabled list.

Yet, in this game we like St. Louis to get the job done. The Cardinals are in a good position and have been playing very good baseball. They have Wacha on the mound and look for him to strike out several Yankees as St. Louis gets the win.

Free Pick: St. Louis 6, New York 3
