Analysis: The A's come in leaders of the AL West with a 10-4 mark overall and that includes a 7-1 mark on the road in the early going as well. The A's have taken the first two in this series and have won 8 of their last 9 overall. The A's have been a solid offensive squad this year as they are 11th in scoring (4.57 rpg), 17th in hitting (.245) and 12th in homers (14). Alberto Jose Callaspo currently leads the team in hitting (.368), while Brandon Moss leads them in RBIs (12) and Yoenis Cespedes leads them in HRs (3). The A's would love to get Josh Reddick going as he is hitting just .098 in the early going thus far. Pitching is not an issues for the A's as they come in ranked 2nd in ERA (2.52), 2nd in WHIP (1.08), 6th in Ks (125) and 1st in Quality Starts (11). Geting the ball tonight is Tommy Milone, who is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA on the year. Tommy is 5-2 with a 4.35 ERA lifetime versus Los Angeles.
For the Angels, they have gotten off to another slow start, as they come in at 6-8 on the year, including just 2-6 at home. In losing the first two games in the series, the Angels are now just 6-14 in their last 20 home games with the A's. The Angels have been very good at the plate this year, where they have averaged 5.57 rpg to rank 2nd in the league. they are just 16th in hitting (.245), but 7th in OPS (.753) and 1st in HRs (23). Leading the team in both hitting (.317) and homers (5) is Mike Trout, while newly acquired Raul Ibanez leads the team in RBIs with 12. Pujols does have 4 HRs, but is still off to a slow start, hitting just .237 in the early going. Pitching is where things go wrong for this team, as they come in ranked 23rd in ERA (4.43), but they do get allot of Ks (134) ranking 3rd in that department. Tyler Skaggs gets his 3rd start of the year for his new team and his 1-0 with a 2,40 ERA so far. This will be his first ever start vs the A's.
Pick: I will be going with the Over in this one. You kinda have to with the way both teams have been swinging the bats so far this year. The Angels are 2nd in the league in scoring at 5.57 rpg and they have hardly missed Josh Hamilton so far, scoring 7.2 rpg in their last 5 games. The hitting has been great for the Halos, but the pitching has not as their starters have a 4.01 ERA and their bullpen checks in with a 5.31 ERA on the year. Tyler Skaggs had a good first start of the year, but that was vs a bad Houston offense. In his last start he allowed 4 ERs to a New York offense that is showing they are very good and the A's offense is better than that NY offense. Overall, Skaggs has a 4.88 ERA in 15 career starts. The A's have struggled vs lefties this year, but still overall they average 4.57 rpg and im sure at some point they will get into that horrible LA bullpen, which should be good for a few runs. Tommy Milone may be the weakest starter on this A's staff and the Halos showed last night that the A's bullpen can allow some runs. Both teams should be able toscore at least 4 runs in this one.
