NCAA Tournament National Championship Kentucky Wildcats vs Connecticut Huskies Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

NCAA Tournament 2014: Updated Bracket and Odds for UConn vs. Kentucky Title Game

The NCAA Tournament National Championship takes place tonight between the Kentucky Wildcats and the Connecticut Huskies. The game is scheduled for a 9:10 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on CBS. Currently the odds for the game have Kentucky favored by a bucket to win the national title.

Kentucky and Connecticut will meet in the national title tonight in the highest combined seed to play for a championship. Neither team made the NCAA Tournament last season and this year are capitalizing on the play of a guard. Aaron Harrison has drilled massive 3-pointers to propel the Wildcats to wins so far this tournament. Shabazz Napier for Connecticut is having a Kemba Walker-like run through the tournament as well, helping the Huskies reaching the finals as a seventh seed.

John Calipari is coaching in his fourth Final Four and the second with Kentucky. His 2012 squad won the national championship, beating Kansas. The Wildcats have now won 11 straight games in the NCAA Tournament.

Connecticut earned its third national championship when they beat Butler the year before Calipari's title, which was Kentucky's ninth national championship.

St. Joseph's took Connecticut to overtime in the opening round of the tournament, but the Huskies survived. They went on to beat up on Villanova before earning close wins over Iowa State and Michigan State to reach the Final Four. Connecticut missed the NCAA Tournament last year because of academic problems, but head coach Kevin Ollie got his players to buy into his system and now they're playing for college basketball's highest prize.

The Kentucky team is starting five freshmen, the first time a college basketball team has done so this late in the season since the Fab Five at Michigan in 1992. They're a big, athletic team that loves to pound the ball inside and score points in the paint.

Helping Napier at the guard position for Connecticut has been Ryan Boatright, who has been playing spectacular defense against some of the nations best guards this tournament. Boatright will match up against one of the Harrison twins in what should be a great battle between guards tonight.

Julius Randle is going to be a problem for the Huskies inside. The freshman from Dallas has shouldered the load as Willie Cauley-Stein is sitting on the bench injured and unable to play. In the Wildcats' win over Wisconsin in the Final Four, Randle had just five rebounds. Each of the other four games this tournament has seen Randle post a double-double.

Napier and the Huskies have been playing very well and they knocked off the top-ranked Florida Gators in their last game. But Kentucky is going to beat up the Huskies inside and we like Calipari's freshmen crew to earn a national championship tonight.
