Major League Baseball Picks New York Yankees vs Houston Astros Odds

The New York Yankees take on the Houston Astros tonight in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for an 8:10 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on MLB.tv. Currently the odds for the game have the Yankees as a pretty solid favorite to win this game tonight.

Scott Feldman threw a great game for Houston last night as the Astros knocked off the Yankees in the opening game of the season for both teams. Now the Yankees are looking to get back to the .500 mark, albeit only in the second game of the year. They're giving the ball to Hiroki Kuroda, who had a pretty solid season last year but finished with an 11-13 record overall. Tonight Kuroda will take on a Houston team that hits just .214 against him in 56 career at bats.

Kuroda's splits show he's a much better pitcher in home games. On the road last year he went just 4-10 with an ERA over 4.00 in 18 starts. He gave up 12 home runs, scattered 120 hits in just over 113 innings of work and allowed opponents to hit .274 against him. Against Houston last year Kuroda picked up a win at Yankee Stadium, throwing seven innings and striking out eight while allowing just four hits. Heading into tonight's game Kuroda is 4-0 with a 1.39 ERA in eight career starts against Houston and carries a 22-inning shutout streak versus the Astros.

The Astros clubbed two home runs, two doubles and nine total hits against CC Sabathia in their 6-2 win on Tuesday. Last year they won their opener as well, but then lost six straight and couldn't hit the baseball.

Getting the start tonight for the Astros will be Jarred Cosart, who will be pitching in his first full season at the Major Leagues. He has never faced the Yankees but did go 1-1 last year with an ERA under 2.00 in 10 starts last year as a rookie. He did walk more hitters, 35, than he struck out (33), however. His control will be a major factor in tonight's game against a veteran Yankee lineup.

Only Jacoby Ellsbury and Kelly Johnson have faced Cosart. Ellsbury is 0-for-3 while Johnson walked in his only plate appearance against Cosart.

With Kuroda's dominance against Houston recently, we like the Yankees to win this game on the road tonight.
