The Michigan State Spartans are being tabbed by oddsmakers as the favorites to reach the Final Four and win the East Region. If they are able to, Tom Izzo's streak of having players reach a Final Four will continue. No one on Michigan State's current team has played in a Final Four.

This region has four teams that legitimately can make the Final Four. Michigan State is taking on Virginia on Friday evening in one contest while Connecticut and Iowa State will be playing on Friday night as well. The Cyclones are playing without Georges Niang but came together late in their win against North Carolina, getting a massive game from DeAndre Kane. Connecticut is going to be ready for that game as well — the contest is being played in Madison Square Garden, giving the Huskies a distinct advantage with fans. Shabazz Napier is also playing very well right now and has helped will the Huskies to a Sweet 16.

Michigan State and Virginia should be an excellent game to watch. Both teams are pretty solid defensively, but Virginia is probably the best defensive squad Michigan State has seen all season. The Spartans were the hot pick to win the tournament when the brackets came out on Selection Sunday. Michigan State is a fourth seed in the East Region and won the Big 10 tournament finale over in-state rival Michigan, who picked up the Big 10 regular season crown.

All four teams are better than even money to reach the Final Four. Virginia, the top overall seed in the region, is drawing better than 2-to-1 odds. If they can get past the Spartans at Madison Square Garden they'll take on either Iowa State or Connecticut to reach the Final Four. This region is going to have three great games and we won't be surprised if any of the four teams reach the Final Four.
