NCAA Basketball Picks Oregon State Beavers vs USC Trojans

NCAA basketball on Thursday night and we will see the Oregon State Beavers travel to the Galen Center to take on the USC Trojans. The game has a start time of 11:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on Fox Sports 1. Vegas odds have the game listed as a PK, while the total sits at 145.

Analysis: The Oregon State Beavers have had an average year, as they come in at 14-12 overall and 6-8 in the Pac-12. The Beavers have really struggled of late, winning just 1 of their last 5 games and their last 3 losses have all been by double digits. Oregon State averages 75.7 ppg on 48.2% shooting overall and 39.5% shooting from long range. Those numbers rank 67th, 21st, and 20th in the nation respectively.Roberto Nelson leads the team in scoring at 20.8 ppg, while Devon Collier (13.6 ppg) and Angus Brandt (12.6 ppg) also average in double figures for the Beavers. Eric Moreland is 4th on the team in scoring at 8.3 ppg, while leading the team in rebounding at 9.2 rpg.

The USC Trojans are having a miserable year, going 10-17 overall and 1-13 within the Pac-12. The Trojans have lost their last 8 games, with their last 6 losses being by at least 8 points. USC averages a modest 71.1 ppg on 44.2% shooting overall and 29.4% from long range, ranking 341st in 3-pt shooting. Byron Wesley leads the Trojan attack with 17.6 ppg, while the only other scorer on the team in double digits is Pe'Shon Howard, who averages 10.7 ppg. Defensively is where the Trojans have struggled this year as they have allowed 75.8 ppg, to rank 30th in the nation. The Trojans average just 4.6 free throws a game and they are not very good at it hitting just 66.1% of their freebies, to rank 292nd in the nation.

Pick: I will be going with the Over in this one. Both teams pay at an uptempo pace and both teams have been really bad at the defensive end of the floor as USC has allowed 77 points or more in each of their last 6 games, while OSU has allowed 79.6 ppg on the road and the same number in their last 5 games overall. OSU averages 73.7 ppg on the road, while USC averages 72.3 ppg at home. Both team should hit at least 73 points in this one.
