College basketball Florida Gators vs Mississippi State Bulldogs Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

The No. 3 Florida Gators hit the road tonight in SEC college basketball action when they take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the odds for the game have Florida favored by double digits on the road.

Florida has risen to the third overall spot in the rankings and look to be the best team in the SEC. Tonight they take on a struggling Mississippi State team that is 3-3 in conference action. The Bulldogs are 11-1 in home games this season and are going to be ready for the Gators in this contest.

The Gators' only two losses on the season came at Wisconsin and at Connecticut. Outside of that they've won their other four games on the road. Mississippi State has been beaten by every team that's better than they are this season, so we expect a solid effort tonight from the Gators, who are better than the Bulldogs. Florida has won 11 straight games overall and SEC teams are shooting just 36.9 percent against Florida this season.

In their last game, where they played Tennessee, the Gators dominated from the opening tip. Florida's 67-41 home win over Tennessee had the Volunteers score more than 33 points below their season average. Defensively, Florida is one of the better teams in the conference as they hold opponents on the season to just 58.8 points per game. Mississippi State gives up more than 69 points per game to opponents.

Florida held Tennessee to just one 3-pointer on 19 attempts in the team's win. Patric Young is a dominant force on the interior and will cause some problems for the Bulldogs in this one tonight. Florida also has Casey Prather down low, one of the best forwards in the conference.

The Gators have won four straight over the Bulldogs and Mississippi State has dropped its last 13 contests against top five teams. Scottie Wilbekin is going to dominate this game from the point position. The Bulldogs are going to need a huge game from Craig Sword, who averages just under 14 points per game. But we don't see any way the Gators don't roll in this game.

Free Pick: Florida 71, Mississippi State 57
