The final game to kick off in this NFL Wild Card Playoff weekend will see the San Francisco 49ers take on the Green Bay Packers. The game is scheduled for a 4:40 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX. Currently the odds for the game have the 49ers favored by about a field goal on the road.

Green Bay got their quarterback Aaron Rodgers back on the field and they picked up a critical win over the Chicago Bears last week. That victory allowed them to host a playoff game this week as the San Francisco 49ers come to town. This game is expected to be very cold — one of the coldest games in the history of the NFL.

How will the San Francisco 49ers respond to playing in such horrid conditions? The New Orleans Saints played well in Philadelphia last night, beating the Eagles in a game when many talked about them not being able to play in the cold.

Dating back to the start of last season, San Francisco has won and covered all three times against Green Bay. San Francisco is a big, physical football team and many believe they're the second best team in the NFC behind Seattle. The 49er defense is very good and no doubt Rodgers and his crew will be challenged in this game.

The Packers have not played a very good defensive team in some time. Three of the last four games came against Atlanta, Dallas and Chicago — all of which are no better than 28th defensively in the league. The 49ers are third best in the league defensively and even though it's going to be freezing, expect them to play well.

The 49ers are going to want to get the football to Anquan Boldin, Michael Crabtree, Vernon Davis and Frank Gore in this one. All four of them certainly won't be easy to tackle in this contest. Colin Kaepernick played well against Green Bay last year in the playoffs, scoring four touchdowns. But that game was on the West Coast.

San Francisco is playing very well, having won seven in a row but prior to that their two losses were by a combined four points to Carolina and New Orleans. The 49ers are certainly playing well at this point in the season.

But even though they won 12 games, they still have to open the playoffs on the road. Green Bay is dangerous in Lambeau Field and it's going to be just too damned cold for San Francisco. We like Rodgers and Randall Cobb to make a difference in this one.
