The Seattle Seahawks look to close out the regular season with the top seed in the NFC when they take on the St. Louis Rams in NFL action today. The game is scheduled for a 4:25 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on FOX. Currently the odds for the game have Seattle favored by double digits.
It's no surprise that the Seahawks are heavily favored in this game. Seattle struggled last week when they hosted Arizona and couldn't capitalize on four Carson Palmer interceptions. They lost that game and now need to beat St. Louis to wrap up that top spot in the NFC.
St. Louis does have a pretty ferocious defense that is highlighted by linemen Robert Quinn and Chris Long. The Rams will need to put a lot of pressure on Russell Wilson and the Seahawk offensive line. If St. Louis isn't able to get to Wilson they probably won't be hanging around late in this contest.
Last week's defeat by Seattle has to have some people concerned. The Seahawks had beaten opponents by an average of 33-14 in home game this season prior to their loss. They finished with only 10 points, 10 first downs and less than 200 yards of total offense against Arizona.
St. Louis nearly beat Seattle the first time these two teams played. The Seahawk defense had to make a stop on the goal line to win that game back in the eighth week of the year. We doubt they will come out and be that flat in this contest with so much riding on the line.
Kellen Clemens has been serviceable for the Rams so far this season, but he's overmatched against a Seattle defense that is probably the best in the league. Tavon Austin is also banged up and is the most important guy they feature on offense.
We like Marshawn Lynch to have a big game this week. If Seattle is able to get him the football and build a lead against the Rams, Lynch will get a big workload and run the football downhill in the second half.
