Valero Alamo Bowl Start Time, Odds Texas Longhorns vs Baylor Bears

Hi-res-184225870-case-mccoy-of-the-texas-longhorns-and-head-coach-mack_crop_650

Intriguing matchup in the Valero Alamo Bowl takes place on Monday, December 30th, as the Oregon Ducks take on the Texas Longhorns at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TexasThe game has a start time of 9:45 pm (Eastern) and be will televised on ESPN. Current odds have Oregon listed as 13.5 point favorites, while the total sits at 67.

Analysis: The Texas longhorns have been in the news lately allot, mainly due to the Mack Brown situation. Well Mack has decided to resigned after this game vs the Oregon. Mack has been with the school for 16 years and complied a 148-57 mark over that stretch, while Capturing one BCS titles, 4 Big 12 south titles and 2 Big 12 titles. This year the Longhorns started out with 2 losses in their first 3 games, before going on a 6 game win streak, which kept them in the Big 12 race for much of the year. Texas did finish with a 1-2 mark their lat 3 games and that has them sitting at 8-4 on the year. Texas has been pretty average on both sides of the ball, ranking 54th in total offense 423.1 ypg) and 55th in scoring (31.2 ppg), while on defense they have ranked 64th in yards allowed (402.2 ypg) and 56th in points allowed (25.5 ppg).

The Oregon Ducks got off to a fast 8-0 start this year, but they struggled a bit down the stretch with a 2-2 mark in their last 4 games. The Air just seemed to come out of this team once they were no longer a part of the BCS Title conversation. The Ducks are lead by first year head coach Mark Helfrich, who needs to prove himself to the fans by having the Ducks prepared for the game, despite the disappointment of missing out on a fifth consecutive BCS bowl. The Ducks are one of the most explosive teams in the nation as they have racked up 573.1 ypg overall, 278.4 ypg on the ground and 46.8 ppg on the year. They are not all about offense, as their defense comes in allowing just 21.6 ppg on the year.

Pick: Motivation. Who Has It?. I have to believe that Texas does, after all they will be saying good buy to their head coach of 16 years after this game. They should be highly motivated for this one. Oregon on the other hand, not so much. After spending much of the year in the BCS title picture they didn't even rate a January 1st Bowl. Can't really see them up for this one. I think the Texas defense can slow them down enough to get the cover here.
