The Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans take to the field today in NFL Sunday. The game is scheduled for a 4:25 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on CBS. Currently the odds for the game have the Cardinals favored on the road.
Don't look now, but the Arizona Cardinals are storming their way up the NFC standings. Bruce Arians has a team with an 8-5 record overall and they believe they can get to double digit victories. Yet, they have two games left against Seattle and San Francisco. Better win this one to get to nine victories.
Hard to argue with Arizona being one of the most improved teams in the league. Carson Palmer is playing very well at the quarterback position and having a guy like Larry Fitzgerald on the outside certainly makes his job easier. Tennessee, on the other hand, is just 2-7 in their last nine games and they will miss the playoffs yet again this season, which will be their fifth in a row.
Arians and his club know how to take out teams they are better than this season. The Cardinals sport a 7-1 record against the number against teams under the .500 mark. Tennessee is just 10-26-1 against the number in their past 37 games against a team with a winning record as well. In other words, the Cardinals look to be the right play in this situation.
The Cardinals are one of the better offensive teams in the league, but they do struggle at running the football. If they can improve on that they will be a legitimate playoff contending team. But much like the Detroit Lions, they won't be able to win consistently in the big games until they figure out that game on the ground.
Tennessee would probably want to throw the football in this game, but it won't be smart against this secondary. The Cardinals have intercepted nine passes this season and have only allowed opponents eight passing touchdowns the past six weeks. They do a good job stuffing the run as well, ranking third best in the league.
Look for Palmer to continue to find Fitzgerald in this game. Arizona's defense is a lot better than people think and the offense is playing at a high level. We like the Cardinals to get it done in this one.
