The Pittsburgh Steelers welcome in the Cincinnati Bengals for Sunday Night Football. The game is scheduled for an 8:25 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on NBC. Currently the odds for the game have Cincinnati favored on the road.
Pittsburgh has not had the type of season they wanted, with injuries and inconsistent play. They can get a solid victory in this one tonight over a Cincinnati team that is hungry to make the post season.
Cincinnati could be in a much better position had they been able to hang onto leads late in games. The Bengals pretty much gave games away to Chicago, Miami and Baltimore this season or they would be certainly cemented into the playoffs. They'll still win the AFC Central division, holding a two-game advantage over the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens.
Big Ben Roethlisberger plays big in big games. Lots of bigs there, but expect a very good effort out of him tonight. When the Steelers are underdogs they certainly are always "live dogs" if they are getting points. Roethlisberger has been impressive lately, throwing for nearly 1,200 yards and nine touchdown passes in the team's last four games.
Pittsburgh has also covered the number in four of their last five games, giving us even more reason to like them at home in this game tonight. And if you like looking at the past games int he series, Pittsburgh has picked up five of the last seven games outright against Cincinnati. But it's worth noting that the Bengals have picked up wins in the last two games.
Cincinnati is on fire, winners of four straight overall and outscoring their last three opponents by a combined score of 100-58. But on the road they have not been a cashing machine, going just 2-4-1 against the number away from home this season. In those road games they're averaging less than 20 points per game as well.
Both teams are in the negatives for turnover differential — Pittsburgh is -4 while the Bengals are -1 for the year. But in this game, we like the team with Big Ben at the helm. The Steelers need a victory at home on national television. Big Ben is the man in these types of games and we think they will do enough defensively to beat the Bengals.
