Heisman Trophy 2013 Odds, Start Time, Preview

Jameis Winston, of the Top Ranked Florida State Seminoles, enters the 2013 Heisman Trophy presentation tonight in New York as the overwhelming favorite. In all 6 players have been invited to New York, with the others being AJ McCarron, Johnny Manziel, Tre Mason, Andre Williams and Jordan Lynch. The start time for the event is 8:00 pm (Eastern) and it will be televised live on ESPN

Jameis Winston is the favorite at 1-10 to take home the Heisman trophy. The signal caller leads the best team in college football and the heavy favorite to win the national championship. Despite some off the field troubles this year, Wintson had an incredible year, with a 190 passer rating, which is nearly 11 points higher than the next best quarterback. His 38 touchdown passes trail only Derek Carr of Fresno State, and he’s second among players at BCS schools with 3,820 passing yards.

Tre Mason from the 2nd ranked Auburn Tigers is next on the list at 15-1 odds. Mason ran for 304 yards and four TDs to lead his team to a 59-42 win over Missouri in last week's SEC Championship Game. Overal this year he ran the ball 283 times for 1,621 rushing yards and 22 TDs. As the most valuable player on a team that will play for a national title, Mason has earned his Heisman consideration.

Alabama QB AJ McCarron checks in at 22-1 odds for the hardware. McCarron will go down as one of the most successful quarterbacks in college football history, with a 36-3 career record as a starter and two BCS title rings. This year McCarron completed 67% of his passes for 2,676 yards and 26 touchdowns for the 11-1 Crimson Tide. The senior QB's hopes hinged on Alabama staying undefeated, but the crazy finish at the Iron Bowl essentially took him out of the running.

The reigning Heisman winner, Johnny Manziel, is next on the list at 30-1 odds to retain his crown. Manziel threw for 3,732 passing yards and 41 touchdowns; along with running for 686 yards and 8 rushing touchdowns. Even though his rushing numbers were down from 2012, he did throw for 255 more passing yards and had 9 more touchdowns than he did in his 2012 Heisman-winning campaign.

Boston College's Andre Williams comes in at 70-1 odds. There hasn’t been another running back more dominant than Andre Williams this season. Williams led the nation in rushing yards with 2,102, while also puttting 17 rushing TDs on the board, but he did leave the regular-season finale, a loss at Syracuse, with an injury.

Northern Illinois' Jordan Lynch rounds out our list and he checks in with 125-1 odds. Last year Lynch led Northern Illinois to an Orange Bowl appearance and came back this year with some incredible numbers. Lynch set a quarterback record by running for 1,881 yards, while also throwing for 2,676 yards, and accounting for 46 touchdowns. Lynch's 2013 offensive stats are better than Tim Tebow’s Heisman-winning campaign of 2007.
