College Basketball Tennessee Volunteers vs Wichita State Shockers Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

College basketball on Saturday afternoon and we will see the Tennessee Volunteers travel to Wichita, Kansas to take on the Wichita State Shockers. The game has a start time of 2:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN 2. Current odds have Wichita State listed as 6 point favorites, while the total sits at 133.5.

Analysis: The Tennessee Volunteers come in at 6-2 on the year and they may have found some offensive rhythm, as they have averaged 77 points during a three-game win streak that includes runaway victories against Xavier and Wake Forest. Jarnell Stokes recorded his fourth straight double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds in an 84-63 win over Tennessee Tech last Saturday and has averaged 18.3 points and 11.8 rebounds during his four-game streak of double doubles. Tennessee leading scorer G Jordan McRae (18.8 ppg) had 17 in a 69-60 win over Wichita State at home last season. During their three-game run, they have outrebounded opponents by an average of 10.7 boards, grabbing 43 on the offensive end in the process.

THe 8th-ranked Wichita State Shockers come in at 9-0 on the year and they will be seeking their first 10-0 start in school history today. Falling behind by a 7-2 score right out of the gate against Oral Roberts last weekend, the Shockers appeared to be completely off their game as they shot a dismal .222 from the floor in the first half, including 0-of-7 behind the 3-point line, but they turned it around in the second half by converting 54.1% from the field and limiting ORU eight total field goals over the final 20 minutes. The Shockers have limited opponents to an average of 60.3 points, which was tied for 11th in the country entering the week.  Cleanthony Early finished in double figures for the ninth time in as many games with a team-high 16 points. Ron Baker, who tallied nine points, eight rebounds and four assists last weekend, remains the top overall scorer for WSU with his 15.3 ppg, thanks to 51.2 percent accuracy from the field. With respect to the all-time series between these two schools on the hardwood, the Shockers have taken two of the first three encounters.

Pick:  I like the Shockers in this one. This is a team that is doing at both ends of the Floor right now. They average 76.6 ppg, while allow just 61.6 ppg, for a scoring margin of +15 ppg. At home they Average 75.2 ppg and have outscored their foes by 15.2 ppg, while at Tennessee put up just 63 points in their lone true road game this year (At Xavier). The Shockers are highly ranked and with good reason. This team is loaded. Tennessee has played better of late, but they are just not in the class of the Shockers here. Look for at least a 10 point win by Wichita State here.
