The BYU Cougars hit the road in college football action on Saturday when they take on the Nevada Wolfpack. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the CBS Sports Network. Currently the odds for the game have BYU favored by a couple of touchdowns.

BYU is already slotted into the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl after winning enough games to qualify. They're 7-4 on the season and this will be their regular season finale against a Nevada team that will not be playing in a bowl game. This is also the Wolfpack's final game of the season.

The Cougars probably could be better, but remember they weren't in a league this season and thus played a pretty tough schedule overall. Two tough losses at the beginning of the season to Virginia and Utah were avoidable at the time, but the Cougars weren't able to overcome miscues. They lost those games by a combined 10 points.

Nevada is probably wondering what might have been this season. The Wolfpack were 3-2 at one point this season but then lost five straight games before a victory last game over San Jose State. They aren't able to play in a bowl game this season because of those five straight losses, although several of them were winnable prior to kickoff.

So what should we expect in this one? BYU has struggled against good defenses in the red zone this season and Nevada is coming off their biggest win of the season two weeks ago and a bye last week. Essentially this is the Nevada bowl game, even if they are playing at home. They should be ready to go in this one.

But BYU has the far superior defense of the two teams and they have responded well off of losses this season. BYU lost to Notre Dame last week. But in three previous losses they responded the next week with 40, 47 and 59 points, respectively.

We'll take the team with the better defense who also has played much better competition.
