A matchup of four-loss teams take place in the NFL Sunday afternoon when the Atlanta Falcons travel west to take on the Arizona Cardinals. The game is scheduled for a 4:25 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on FOX. The odds for the game currently have Arizona favored by about a field goal.
Atlanta is feeling disrespected at this point, getting a field goal at Arizona? Not many Falcon fans thought they'd be in this situation, especially this early in the season. The Falcons have already lost four games and Arizona is 3-4 as well.
The Cardinals have lost two straight games, but they're favored over an Atlanta team that looked like the best in football at times last season and went to the playoffs. Something doesn't seem right about this game. Matt Ryan loves to play indoors (especially at the Georgia Dome) and even though this game is on the road, it's still inside. To be fair with Arizona, their last two losses did come at the hands of Seattle and San Francisco. They're coming off some extra rest having played in the Thursday night game last week, so it's been awhile since they took the field.
Arizona is just 29th in total offense this season, which doesn't help their cause to be laying points. Carson Palmer and the gang would love to get the football to Larry Fitzgerald quite a bit, but the offensive line hasn't been able to keep Palmer on his feet. And even when they can, Palmer seems to be turning the football over. Not good. He's thrown 11 interceptions the last five games overall.
Injuries aren't helping Atlanta, but they still should be able to win this game. Ryan has thrown at least two TD passes in each game this season, so he should be able to help the Falcons move the ball down the field. They're playing without Julio Jones which isn't great for Atlanta fans, so Roddy White will have to shoulder the load for the most part. Look for Tony Gonzalez to have a big game here as well.
It's not going to be a game where Arizona comes out and beats Atlanta, as we don't think they can do that. If Ryan and the Falcons don't turn the football over, they'll win. We expect that to happen.
