Free NFL Picks Dallas Cowboys at Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys take to the field in Motown Sunday in NFL action. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on FOX. Currently the odds for the game have the Lions as a home favorite by a field goal.

There's been a lot of talk surrounding this game on Sunday. Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant said he's just as good as Calvin Johnson and could do anything the Lions' superstar could do. Why that might be partially true, there's nobody in the league like Calvin Johnson. Bryant is a very special player, and he's probably one of the best receivers in the league, but he's not Megatron.

The Lions are sitting in second place in the physical NFC North as the Packers have re-gained their feet. Dallas enters the game atop the NFC East as both clubs have 4-3 records on the season. The Cowboys have picked up recent wins over Philadelphia and Washington while the Lions have gone just 1-2 in their last three, with losses to Green Bay and Cincinnati — both playoff teams.

Detroit has built up a reputation of being a very solid team when playing at home. They're favored over the Cowboys because this is a home game and look for a very solid effort by the Lions. In spread news, the Lions are 7-1 in their last eight contests against NFC East opponents.

It's worth noting that Tony Romo and the Cowboys are playing their second straight road game. In typical gambling talk, this would be considered your "letdown spot" by the Cowboys after they picked up two straight division wins. They enter this game banged up on the offensive line and that's certainly not a positive thing going into a contest against a front seven like the Lions.

Matt Stafford seems to have gotten comfortable in the Lions system and he'll have a big game. If Detroit doesn't turn the football over, they're very hard to beat. And going back to the playing at home thing — Detroit averages 32.6 points per game at Ford Field this season. Look for Reggie Bush to have a big impact on this game. Johnson over the middle and running deep gives Bush the ability to get under the coverage and pick up quality yards. He'll be a big difference in this game today.
