NFL Week 8 Odds New York Giants vs Philadelphia Eagles

NFL Week 8 and we will see the New York Giants travel to Philadelphia, Pa to take on the Philadelphia Eagles. The game has a start time of 1:00 PM (Eastern) and will be televised on Fox. Current odds for the game have Philadelphia listed as 5.5 point favorites, while the total sits at 50.5.

Analysis: The New York Giants finally got into the win column their last time out and will try for a rare two-game winning streak when they visit the Philadelphia Eagles today. The Giants ended their six-game slide to start the season with Monday night's 23-7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Meanwhile, New York has not won a road game since Oct. 14, 2012, at San Francisco, dropping eight in a row away from MetLife Stadium. Eli Manning, who leads the NFL with 15 interceptions, was not picked off for the first time this season and he has 18 Tds in his last 6 games vs Philadelphia. Victor Cruz remains New York's top threat with a team-high 591 yards receiving, but Hakeem Nicks has yet to find the end zone this season. Defensively, the Giants played very well on MNF, holding the Vikings to just 206 total yards, but still this is a bad defense as they are 19th in yards allowed (364.9), 20th against the pass (254.9), 21st against the rush (110.0) and 31st in points allowed (30.9).

Philadelphia (3-4) lost 17-3 at home to Dallas last weekend to fall one game behind the first-place Cowboys in the NFC East. Nick Foles sustained a concussion in the third quarter and was replaced by rookie Matt Barkley, who threw three interceptions in yet another defeat that drew the ire of booing Eagles fans. The Eagles have dropped a franchise-record nine straight home games, but with a healthy Michael Vick poised to start this weekend, the Eagles have to like their chances of ending their home slump. Vick has victimized the Giants in the past with his legs, with 20 carries of at least 10 yards in his career, and is 4-2 as a starter versus New York while with Philadelphia. LeSean McCoy leads the NFL with 685 rushing yards and 952 yards from scrimmage, though he was held to a season-low 46 rushing yards by the Giants three weeks ago. On defense, the Eagles are 26th in points allowed (28.0), 31st against the pass (311.6) and last in yards allowed (412.7).

Pick: I will be going with the Giants in this one. The Eagles don't really play well at home and the Giants come in with momentum, following their Monday night win. This is a team that is known for putting some wins together, following a rough start. The Giants finally had a complete game on Monday night and Eli has had some good success vs the Eagles, with 18 Tds in his last 6 games vs them. Vick will be back for the Eagles, but still is it enough to jumps start this offense that has been floundering of late. The Giants have already seen this offense and that should help them prepare better for this one. The Giants should get revenge here for their loss at home earlier in the year to the Eagles.
