NFL Point Spreads Dallas Cowboys vs San Diego Chargers

A big inter-conference battle takes place today between the Dallas Cowboys and San Diego Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. The game will be televised on FOX and has a start time of 4:25 pm (Eastern). Current Odds have Dallas listed as 1.5 point favorites, while the total sits at 47.

Analysis: The Cowboys are 2-1 on the year and so far look like the best team in what may be the weakest division in the NFL, the NFC East. Tony Romo is off to a fast start completing 72.2 percent of his passes for 771 yards and six touchdowns. Demarco Murray averaged 55.5 yards over the first two games of the season, but he exploded for 175 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries in Sunday's 31-7 demolition of the St. Louis Rams. That was his first 100-yard outing since the opening game of the 2012 season. Receiver Dez Bryant (17 receptions) could be up for another big game – he had nine catches for 141 yards against Kansas City on Sept. 15 – against the suspect San Diego secondary. Defensive end DeMarcus Ware is off to a strong start with four of the team’s 13 sacks, but has been limited in practice this week, while the Dallas defense also suffered a blow with the loss of Anthony Spencer for the year.

The Bolts are off to a 1-2 start, with all three games being decided by 3 points. The could easily be 3-0 on the year as they had leads vs Houston and Tennessee late, but just couldn't close the deal. The only win came in Week 2, 33-30 in Philadelphia as Rivers threw for a career-high 419 yards. He's thrown for less than 200 in each of their losses. Rivers, who has eight touchdown passes to one interception, has been sacked five times after being dropped an AFC-high 49 times last year. Rivers is three touchdown passes away from joining Hall of Famer Dan Fouts (254) and John Hadl (201) as the only quarterbacks in franchise history to reach 200 scoring passes. The defense for the Bolts have really let them down as they rank 28th against the run (130 per game) and dead last in pass defense (340.7).

Pick: The Bolts have a better attitude this year and they are in improved team, but they really need to start learning to close out games. I feel they will get it done here. Rivers will continue his solid play, while the defense steps up to make some big stops. San Diego wins a close one.
