The Cincinnati Bengals will take aim at their second division win of the season today when they square off against the Cleveland Browns at FirstEnergy Stadium. Start time in today's showdown between these two in-state and divisional rivals is set for 1:00pm ET; the game will be broadcast live on CBS.
Cleveland's Rod Chudzinski got his first win as an NFL head coach last weekend as his Browns went into the Land of Ten Thousand Lakes and defeated a favored Vikings squad 31-27.
The game was sloppy to say the least with the two teams combining for seven turnovers. but did enough things well to get the win.
Cleveland got a nice performance from backup quarterback Brian Hoyer, who was tabbed to step in for the injured Brandon Weeden. Hoyer, who will get the start today as well, tossed three picks in his first NFL start, but he made up for the errant passes by throwing touchdown passes of 47, 19, and seven yards.
The Browns, who tallied 409 yards and 23 first downs, also went a perfect 3-of-r3 in the red zone.
Cleveland, which is making its first home appearance since losing its season opener to the Dolphins, will look to even its record against a a Bengals squad that is 2-1 and coming off wins home wins over the Steelers and Packers.
While today's game may be a mismatch on paper and in reputation, the Browns have not been an easy out for Cincinnati, especially in Cleveland. The two rivals are 3-3 in their last six games at FirstEnergy Stadium and the Browns secured a 4-2 against the spread edge in those meetings.
