The 2013 Notre Dame Football Schedule is tough just like in years past. The Irish have road dates vs Michigan and Stanford, plus a netral site game vs Arizona State, while they get USC, Oklahoma and Michigan State at home. 11 teams on the schedule were in a bowl games last year making his one of the toughest schedules in the nation. Their full schedule is listed below, but first let's preview the 2013 Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
What a year it was for the Irish last year as they went 12-1 overall and played in the National Title game, but unfortunately their year ended badly with a blowout loss to Alabama in the big game. This Brian Kelly has 14 starters back, they will lose the heart and soul of their team an Manti T'eo. Brian has some work to do this year.
Lets talk defense first, cause they will be called on again to lead this team this year. Last year the Irish allowed just 12.8 ppg and 305 ypg and even though Manti is not with them this year, this group still have a chance to be just as good as 2012's edition. According to Phil Steel the Irish have the top rated defensive line in the nation and it is led by Stephon Tuitt, who is expect to be the new heart and soul of the Irish defense for this year and next year. The Irish LB are also highly rated by Mr. Steele as he has them rated at #7 in the nation and that's without Manti this year. 3 starters to this group return and all 3 starters are seniors, which give them some great experience, but they are very deep behind the starters as well. The secondary was at times a problem for the Irish last year as hey were a very young group, but this year with experience and some depth they have been rated as the 15th best secondary in the country. All three units of this defense are ranked pretty high and they could even be better than last year's group, especially with an improved secondary.
On offense the Irish put up 25.8 ppg last year, but will not have QB Golson, who has been suspended for the year. Tommy Rees will take over at the QB slot and while he has some experience he didn't perform all that well, but let's remember that Kelly had a freshman QB take him to the national title game and I'm sure he will have Rees ready to go once the season starts. Lucky for him is he has the 12th rated OL to protect him. That OL is experienced and is the only offensive unit that Phil Steel has ranked in his top 28 in the nation. That is not to say that the Irish offense won't be that good. They do lose their top 2 RB's from last year and perhaps the best TE in football in Tyler Eifert, but they also bring back 2 WR starters and their stable of RB's is deep with George Atkinson taking over this year. He was the 3rd leading rusher last year with 381 yards and is ready for a big year. Rees does have a big arm and the energy level seem to go up every time he came in the game last year. Kelly will have him read and the Irish should put up more than 25.8 ppg like last year.
No the Irish won't go 12-0 in the regular season and play in the national title game but they are still a very good team, led by one of the best defenses in the nation and one of the best coaches as well. Tommy Rees will have an unexpectedly good year and the Irish will win at least 9 games on their way to another big bowl game. Key Trends: 1-10 ATS last 10 home games vs Navy... 10-2 ATS vs an opponent off a SU dog win... 0-5-1 ATS before playing Navy.

I see an 8-4 record at best in that schedule. It's pretty tough. A ton of good teams that are going to be out for revenge from last year. The home games vs Temple and Navy are the only for sure wins outright(maybe not against the spread) I'm a USC fan, so I'm a little bias.
