2013 NFL Preseason Cincinnati Bengals at Dallas Cowboys

Hi-res-159013109_crop_650x440

Week 3 of the NFL's 2013 preseason schedule continues tonight and we will see the Cincinnati Bengals travel to Cowboys Stadium to take on the Dallas Cowboys. The start time is 8:00 pm (Eastern) and the game will be televised locally. Current Odds have Dallas listed as 2.5 point favorites, while the total sits at 42.5.

Analysis: Bengal fans are excited cause many of the pundits out there are picking their team to win the AFC Central. The Bengals have racked up 431.5 ypg and 61 total points in their wins over Miami and Tennessee so far this preseason. Last week vs Tennessee, Andy Dalton hit 9-of-14 passes for 115 yards and a TD in the 27-19 win. Giovani Bernard and Daniel Herron each had a touchdown run while Mohamed Sanu caught a touchdown pass for the Bengals. Last year the Bengals defense flourished down the stretch and they have picked up right where they left off, allowing just 29 total points in their  first 2 games. Look for Begal starters to mostly play into the 3rd quarter.

The Cowboys are coming off a 12-7 setback to the Arizona Cardinals in the desert. In that game they did put up 340 yards of offense, but 6 turnovers did them in. Tony Romo went 7-for-10 for 142 yards while Alex Tanney was 14-for-19 for 136 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Kyle Orton had a tough game as two of his 8 passes were picked off. Dallas also had to deal with fumbles from Dez Bryant and Dwayne Harris and running back Lance Dunbar. Tony Romo has completed 13 of 18 passes for 230 yards in two games, while wide receiver Dez Bryant has caught seven passes for 129 yards. Dallas and Cincinnati have squared off just once in the preseason and that was in the 2010 NFL Hall of Fame Game where the Cowboys were victorious in Canton, 16-7.

Pick: I will go with the Under in this one. The Bengals have been very good on offense this year, but Dallas has not been all that bad on defense allowing just 299 ypg and 16 ppg so far. Defense has been the name of the Bengals game, dating back to last year and they have picked upwhere they left off this year, allowing 14.5 ppg so far. The Dallas offense has been very inconsistent this year as costly turnover have kept them from putting up points. Dallas has averaged 370 ypg of offense, but have scored just 17 ppg. I see both defenses playing a good game in this one.
