The NFL preseason is almost three weeks old and the start of the regular season is just under three weeks away with the Ravens and Broncos set to tangle at Mile High on Thursday, September 5th. As such, the odds makers are working feverishly to keep up with everything going on around the league. Summer developments, which have featured numerous injuries, arrests, and suspensions, have kept them busy to say the least, and, not surprisingly, influenced the latest Super Bowl XLVIII Odds. However, they have not influenced them in the manner some might expect.
The Denver Broncos, who lost their starting center for the year and will likely see two of their best players, Champ Bailey and Von Miller, miss time early in the season, were drawing +600 odds ($100 wins $600) as a Super Bowl favorite in late March. Despite all of their woes, the Broncos are still listed at +600 odds to win the Lombardi Trophy.
Early listings had the New England Patriots pegged a co-Super Bowl favorite along with Denver, but they are now drawing +900 odds to win the championship. San Francisco, another Super Bowl favorite, saw its stock drop as well, moving from +650 odds to +900.
Other big name fallers include the Seattle Seahawks, New Orleans Saints, and Pittsburgh Steelers, who moved from +900 odds, +1800 odds, and +2000 odds, respectively, to +1200, +2200, and +2500. Among the risers are the Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, and Houston Texans. The Falcons went from +1600 odds to +1500 while the Packers and Texans saw their lines move from +1200 and +2000 to +1100 and +1800, respectively.
