2013 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Schedule, Prediction

Seven home games, including dates with both Pittsburgh and Syracuse, and two nationally-televised Thursday night games are a part of the 2013 Georgia Tech football schedule. The Yellow Jackets’ five road games include a return trip to Clemson and games at BYU, Miami, Duke and Virginia. The full schedule is below, but first let's preview the 2013 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Paul Johnson went a solid 20-7 in his first two seasons with Tech while posting a 12-4 conference record over that stretch as well. The last three years tell a much different story. The Yellow Jackets have gone 21-19 overall and 14-10 in the ACC during the last 3 years. Johnson went 3-3 in the first two years vs Clemson, Georgia and Va tech, but have gone just 1-8 vs those team the last 3 years.

Georgia Tech's biggest strength comes on offense. They enter the year as one of the most experienced teams in the ACC, with senior running backs David Sims and Robbie Godhigh anchoring their option game. At quarterback, sophomore Vad Lee, will take over for Tevin Washington. Lee was one of Tech's prized 2011 recruits and he finally is getting an opportunity to show what he can do. The OL is very experienced with 4 starters back that include 3 seniors and 2 juniors. They do lose their top 2 WR's from last year, but still if they can find some sort of passing game behind Vlad then they will be a very hard team to slow down.

On defense last year the Techster's allowed 29.3 ppg and 374 ypg. There isn't as much talent on this side of the ball for Johnson but there is some talent. DE Jeremiah Attaochu is All-ACC caliber and Jabari Hunt-Days is a star in the making. Isaiah Johnson and Jemea Thomas are good secondary players but they have had to make way too many tackles last year. The run defense for Tech was poor, after allowing 144 ypg and 4.3 ypc last year. Overall with 8 starters back and a very good secondary i look for this unit to improve on last years numbers.

The Georgia Tech offense should be very good once again, while the defense will be very much improved. I don't feel they can get back to the ACC Championship, but  Can they get back to the ACC Championship Game as Miami and Virginia Tech are just a bit better than them and both have the more favorable schedule. Still tech should have a solid year and another bowl invite. Key Trends--- 7-1 ATS in the 2nd of BB road games... 6-1-1 ATS last 8 vs Duke... 1-8 ATS away with revenge off a SU favorite loss.
