Boston College Eagles 2013 Schedule, Preview

Four ACC home games against Wake Forest, Florida State, Virginia Tech and North Carolina State and two visits from non-league opponents Villanova (Aug. 31) and Army (Oct. 5) highlight the 2013 Boston College football schedule. The full schedule is listed below, but first let's preview the Eagles for 2013.

Boston College's win total has dropped every year since the put up 11 wins in 2007. Last year was their worst over that stretch as they bagged just 2 wins on the year. New head coach Steve Adazio has allot of work to get the Eagles back to competing for bowl games again.

On Offense the eagles bring back 8 starters, but is that good or bad. The Eagles have averaged under 20 ppg for 3 straight years and the last 2 years they had 10 starters and 9 starters back respectively. QB Chase Rettig is back after throwing for 3,065 yards, 17 touchdowns and 13 interceptions during the 2012 season. He will work with top WR Alex Amidon, who had 78 catches for 1,210 yards and seven TD's last year. Top RB Andre Williams, also returns after putting up 599 yards and four TD's last year. The OL will be decent this year with 3 starters back, but they have very little depth behind those guys. This could be an offense that get's back to putting up 20+ ppg this year.

Defensively the Eagles allowed 29.7 ppg and 456 ypg last year, but with 10 starters back this unit has a chance to improve. Having said that though, Steve Adazio has some work to do, as there is no pass rush and the defensive backfield is a year away, from really improving. Coach Adazio has 20 of 25 lettermen back on defense this year and while the unit as a whole lacks some star power, he does know how to get the most out of his players so you can bet this will be an improved defense this year.

A new AD and coach seems to have breathed new life into the Boston College football program. Boston College took quite a tumble the past two seasons and the path to success isn’t easy in the Atlantic Coast Conference. It will likely take, some time for Addazio to teach the Eagles his style of play and get Boston College back on track. Key Trends: 1-7 ATS after Clemson... 5-1 ATS last 6 home games vs Virginia Tech... 6-1 ATS before playing Wake Forest.
