Analysis: The Seattle Mariners made the most of their one hit Saturday, putting themselves in position to complete a sweep as they conclude their three-game series against the host Houston Astros today. Seattle had its 23-game home run streak snapped as former Mariner Erik Bedard worked 6 1/3 hitless before exiting a 2-2 game. Michael Saunders produced the Mariners' lone hit later in the seventh, a two-run double that led the club to its season-high fifth straight victory. Despite the win, Seattle failed to hit at least one homer for the first time since it dropped a 1-0 decision to the Los Angeles Angels on June 19. Felix Hernandez posted his fifth consecutive victory July 13 when he allowed seven hits over eight scoreless innings against the Los Angeles Angels. The 27-year-old Venezuelan has not lost since yielding five runs and 11 hits over 5 2/3 frames versus the Texas Rangers on May 25. Hernandez evened his career record against the Astros at 1-1 when he scattered five hits over six scoreless innings at Houston on April 22.

Houston fell to a major league-worst 33-63 as it lost for the seventh time in eight games. The Astros also have dropped eight of nine at home. The Astros have walked 14 in the first two games of this series and are second in the major leagues in walks per nine innings at 3.67. Carlos Pena, mired in an 8-for-65 (.123) slump, has gone 1 for his last 19 against the Mariners. The Astros try to bounce back behind Jordan Lyles (4-3, 4.02), who went 0-2 with a 6.14 ERA in his final four starts before the break. The right-hander yielded four runs in 6 1-3 innings of a 5-4 loss at St. Louis last Wednesday. Lyles allowed three hits and struck out a career-high 10 over seven scoreless innings but didn't get a decision in a 6-1 win at Seattle on June 12. That was the only time he's faced the Mariners. Lyles has gone 2-1 with a 2.64 ERA in his last five home starts.

Pick: Easy cal here on the Mariners with King Felix on the mound. Houston is the worst team in baseball right now and they are playing like it. Seattle is playing with confidence and they have a chance for a sweep here. I say they get it behind a big outing from Felix.
