The Texas A&M Aggies initial foray into the SEC was a great success as they posted an 11-2 record and earned a 41-13 victory over its former Big 12 rival, Oklahoma, in the Cotton Bowl. Aggies quarterback Johnny Manziel also won the Heisman Trophy after amassing a staggering 5,116 yards (3706 passing, 1410 rushing) and 47 touchdowns (26 passing, 21 rushing). Still, Texas A&M placed third in the SEC West division behind Alabama and LSU.
