The Texas Rangers will look to halt their recent slide tonight as they return to Arlington to open a five game home stand. Texas will host the Arizona Diamondbacks this evening as the two squads open a two game inter-league set at Rangers Ballpark; first pitch is set for 8:05pm ET. The latest MLB Picks and Odds at 5Dimes have Texas listed as a -134 money line favorite and the Over/Under set at 9.5 runs (Under favored at -120 odds). The Diamondbacks are drawing +124 money line odds ($100 wins $124) to win their fourth consecutive games.

Arizona improved its record to 30-22 last night, securing a 5-4 win over the Rangers to complete its two game sweep of Texas at Chase Field. The win, which served as the Diamondbacks fourth in their last five games, increased the team’s lead in the NL West two games.

The Diamondbacks will look to keep their present momentum intact with former Ranger Brandon McCarthy toeing the rubber. McCarthy owns some pedestrian numbers as he enters tonight’s game with a 2-3 record, 4.36 ERA, and 1.34 WHIP; however, he has been tremendous of late.

McCarthy, who is seeking his fifth consecutive quality start, has allowed just 15 hits and one earned run in his last 24 innings of work (three starts).

The reeling Rangers, who dropped their third straight game last night, will counter McCarthy with 24 year old right hander Justin Grimm. Like McCarthy, Grimm’s number are not overwhelming, but he has performed well the last couple of weeks.

The Tennessee native is coming off back to back wins as he limited the Tigers and Mariners to five earned runs over 13 innings (3.46 ERA) in 7-2 and 9-5 Ranger victories. Grimm’s best work has come at home this season as he is 2-1 with a 2.79 ERA in three starts at Rangers Ballpark.

Notable Trend: The Under is 5-0 in the Diamondbacks last five games as a road dog with a total between 9.5 and 10 runs.
