The Boston Celtics will look to snap out of their post All-Star Game funk this evening as they the Utah Jazz at the EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City. Start time in tonight’s East versus West showdown is set for 9:00pm ET; the game will be broadcast live on NBATV. The latest NBA Odds are favoring the Jazz at -7 against the spread; the Over/Under is set at 190.5 points. Boston is drawing +245 moneyline odds to record its 10th road win of the season.
The Celtics roared into the All-Star break on an 8-1 tear, but they have sputtered out of it, dropping three of four since the annual respite.
Boston’s most recent failure took place yesterday as it fell 86-92 at Portland, putting an end to the Blazers seven game losing streak. The loss, which dropped the Celtics record to 29-27, featured nice games from both Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce (combined for 43 points, 16 rebounds, and 11 assists); however, a 2-for-13 effort from beyond the arc proved too difficult to overcome.
The Jazz, playing at the EnergySolutions Arena, could prove the same. Utah, a 21-6 home team, is coming off a 107-94 road loss to the Clippers, but it reeled off three straight wins prior to Saturday’s setback.
Oklahoma City, Minnesota, and Golden State all fell victim to the Jazz and the Thunder and Warriors were out-scored by Tyrone Corbin’s troops 224-195 in Salt Lake City.
Utah has not fared well against the Celtics of late, though. The Jazz are 1-5 in their last six meetings with Boston, but it should be noted only two of those games, including the lone Utah win, took place at the EnergySolutions Arena.
Notable Trends: The Celtics are 2-4 both straight up and against the spread in their last six games as a road dog coming off a road loss in the second of back to back games (Under 5-1 in those six games). The Under is 9-1 in Utah’s last 10 games as a home favorite with a spread between 4 and 7.5 points.
