ACC Basketball Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at North Carolina Tar Heels Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Hi-res-6948504_crop_exact

ACC Basketball on Wednesday and we will see the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets travel to Chapel Hill to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 pm (Eastern) start time and will be televised on ESPN. Currently the odds for the game have North Carolina favored by 10.5 points while the total sits at 137.  Check out Sportsbook Spy to see who the Public is taking on all of today's games.

Free Analysis:  Brian Gregory's second season at the helm in Atlanta has been a mixed bag. One of the youngest teams in the nation. Georgia Tech has shown flashes of strong play, but long stretches of futility as well. The team is currently in the midst of one of those skeins, having lost four straight games, all in- conference, including last week's 73-57 loss at Duke. Scoring has certainly been problematic for Georgia Tech this season, as the team is averaging just 65.0 ppg on a mediocre .419 shooting. Freshman swingman Marcus Georges-Hunt boasts of the only double-digit average at this time at a mere 10.7 ppg. Yet another freshman in Robert Carter Jr. and a senior in Udofia are just outside the mark looking in at 9.9 ppg each.

Roy Williams' Tar Heels have also experienced lulls this season, more than they have normally. UNC comes into this contest with a 12-5 overall mark. However, after losing its first two conference games, North Carolina has pulled even at 2-2 with back-to-back wins over Florida State (77-72) and most recently, Maryland (62-52). Despite a rather modest record to date, the Tar Heels remain a dangerous squad with above-average scoring prowess (78.6 ppg).  Reggie Bullock had the best performance of his career by scoring a 24 points against Maryland. Bullock had at least 20 points for the third time in his career and was named the ACC player of the week. "I was just catching the ball and shooting,” Bullock told the Raleigh News and Observer. “I was feeling it, and trying to get the crowd in it – just playing with a lot of emotion, playing with that sense of urgency.” Bullock's performance also mirrored the team's. He scored 21 points in the first half but then shot 1-of-6 in the final 20 minutes as North Carolina scored just 20 points. James Michael-McAdoo leads the Tar Heels in scoring (14.7) and has been in double figures in all but one game this season.

Free Pick:  I am looking at the Over in this one. The Heels are a very good offensive team, especially at home where they average 80.7 ppg, They should get plenty tonight as Tech allows 77 ppg on the road. Tech has had offensive problems this year, but the Heels do allow 66 ppg at home and in an uptempo game the Jackets should be able to at least hit that mark. This game should be played in the 140’s.
