The Seattle Seahawks are in Atlanta this weekend for an NFL Playoffs divisional round showdown with the top seeded Falcons. Start time in tomorrow’s meeting between the two squads is set for 1:00pm ET; the game will be broadcast live on FOX. The latest Seattle Seahawks vs Atlanta Falcons NFL Odds have Matt Ryan and company listed as -2.5 against the spread favorites and the Over/Under set at 46 points.
The Seahawks could be labeled the darlings of the NFL right now with seemingly every pundit lavishing Pete Carroll’s squad with praise. The admiration is not unwarranted given how well Seattle has played down the stretch.
The Seahawks have won six straight games, and with the exception of a 23-17 overtime win at Chicago (December 2nd), were dominant in doing so. Seattle has topped its last five opponents by an average of 27.2 points per game while averaging 38.8 points per contest.
Conversely, Atlanta has the reputation of an 8-8 team despite its 13-3 record. The Falcons probably have a right to feel somewhat jilted considering they ranked in the top eight in both points (26.2) and points per game allowed (18.7) this season.
Nonetheless, Atlanta’s reputation has been victimized by a soft schedule and the team’s penchant for collapsing on the big stage. The Falcons played against three winning teams this season (Denver, Washington, NY Giants – it did win all of those games) and they are 0-3 in the playoffs with Ryan under center.
The odds makers have enough respect for the Falcons play at home to make them the favorite in this contest, but were this game taking place in Seattle or on a neutral field, the Seahawks would, without question, be laying points.
Seattle Seahawks vs Atlanta Falcons NFL Odds: Seattle Seahawks +2.5 (+100), Over 46 (-110), +123 (Moneyline)
Atlanta Falcons -2.5 (-120), Under 46 (-110), -143 (Moneyline)
