Free Analysis: The Houston Rockets are set for a whirlwind 24 hours on Wednesday, a day that will begin with them attending the funeral service for head coach Kevin McHale's daughter before traveling to Oklahoma City to take on the 11-4 Thunder.James Harden, who has developed into one of the league's top scorers with the Houston Rockets, makes his return to Oklahoma City on Wednesday for the first time since failing to agree to a contract extension with the Thunder. After being traded to Houston and signing a five-year, $80 million extension, Harden is averaging 25.1 points. He has reached double figures in all but one game, including a 24-point, 12-assist performance Tuesday as the Rockets topped the Toronto Raptors for their third straight win. For the third time in four games, a Rocket will be facing his previous team. Last Wednesday, center Omar Asik struggled against Chicago, with which he spent the prior two seasons. Two days later, guard Jeremy Lin scored 13 points against the New York Knicks. Chandler Parsons has scored in double figures in a career-high nine straight games and has made a 3-pointer in 20 straight contests. During this run, the second-year forward is averaging 19.8 points while shooting 52.7 percent.
Oklahoma City acquired Kevin Martin in the trade, and he has essentially performed Harden's duties as a sixth man by averaging 15.7 points while shooting 45.6 percent. Kevin Durant scored 18 points and Martin added 12 on Monday as the Thunder rolled to their sixth in in seven games with a record-setting 114-69 rout of the Charlotte Bobcats. Besides shooting his highest percentage since 2007-08 with Sacramento, Martin also is shooting a career-best 49.3 percent on 3-pointers. He has made at least one shot from beyond the arc in 14 games and has hit at least five in three contests. That has helped Oklahoma City shoot 41.7 percent from 3-point range, which leads the Western Conference. The Thunder set several franchise records Monday, with its 45-point margin of victory, 40-point lead at halftime and 69 points allowed. Monday also marked the 10th time the club eclipsed 100 points. It has won nine of those contests. Thunder G Russell Westbrook is averaging a career-high 8.6 assists and a career-low 2.9 turnovers. He already has posted 10 assists five times, one more than his total from last season.

At home the Thunder have averaged 107.4 ppg, while the Rockets have allowed 105.2 ppg on the road. The Thunder defense is middle of the pack, allowing 96.3 ppg, but I do see a Rockets offense that has averaged 108 ppg in their last 5 games putting up at least 100 points in this one, while the Thunder may eclipse 110 points once again. I look for at least 215 points in this one.
