What looked like a season of promise for Cincinnati transformed into a nightmare as it lost four straight games between October 7th and November 4th. The Bengals are not completely awake yet, but their 31-13 win over the Giants last Sunday at least stirred them from their extended slumber.
Heading into last weekend’s meeting with New York, the Bengals looked like a far inferior team to the Giants, and, in reality, they are; however, as most all football fans know, the best team does not always win, especially in the NFL.
Cincinnati was held to 15 first downs and 275 total yards, but it finished +3 in the great equalizer, turnover margin.
The Bengals should post better numbers today with the Chiefs being more their speed, but winning the turnover battle may be necessary for them to keep Kansas City stuck in reverse. The Chiefs have been their own worst enemy this season (they rank dead last in turnover margin at -20), but when they do avoid shooting themselves in the foot, they can make life rough on their opposition.
Kansas City cannot be trusted, though. The Chiefs are simply unbettable in this writer’s estimation because their erratic play makes it difficult to ever get a feel for when or where they might decide to put their best foot forward. So either fade KC or stay away altogether.
