NBA Wednesday Philadelphia 76ers at New Orleans Hornets: Start Time, Spread, Free Pick

New Orleans Hornets Vs. Philadelphia 76ers: 11/7/12 Dan's Free NBA Basketball Pick Against the Spread

NBA Wednesday night and we will see the Philadelphia 76ers travel to the Big Easy to take on the New Orleans Hornets. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 pm start time and it will be televised live on ESPN. Currently the odds have New Orleans favored by 1 point with the total sitting at 181 points for the contest. Check out Sportsbook Spy to find out what side the Public is taking on all of today's games.

Free Analysis: After an impressive first up win over the Denver Nuggets, the Philadelphia 76ers then proceeded to lose back to back games to the New York Knicks, getting blown out in both occasions in the home-and-home series. Still without big man Andrew Bynum, The 76ers are averaging 85.3 points on 37.2 percent shooting, and they made 33.7 percent of their shots Monday while suffering their second loss in as many days to New York, 110-88. Jrue Holiday, who scored a team-best 17 points, is the only player averaging more than 15.0 with 19.3. Jason Richardson's status is unknown because of a sprained left ankle that kept him out Monday, while Kwame Brown left that game with a strained left calf. The 76ers will try to overcome those potential absences to earn their fifth victory in six matchups with the Hornets. Philadelphia won 101-93 in last season's lone meeting Jan. 4 in New Orleans as Holiday scored 23 points and Evan Turner added 21 off the bench. The 76ers have won two of their past three road games against the Hornets after losing five of the previous six. This contest marks the third consecutive time Philadelphia has traveled to New Orleans during the series.

The New Orleans Hornets again may be without this year's top overall draft pick as they attempt to extend their winning streak to three games Wednesday, when they host the offensively challenged Philadelphia 76ers. After dropping its season opener, New Orleans posted a home victory over Utah on Friday and topped the Bulls in Chicago a day later. The latter win occurred without Anthony Davis, who suffered a mild concussion in the triumph over the Jazz as he was accidentally elbowed by teammate Austin Rivers.  Coach Monty Williams was fined $25,000 for criticizing the league's concussion policy. Before Saturday's game in Chicago, Williams took a shot at the NBA's rules for deciding when a player can return from the head injury. "They treat everybody like they have white gloves and pink drawers, and it's getting old," Williams said. With Davis out, the Hornets knocked off the Bulls 89-82 and allowed them to shoot just 33.0 percent. After hitting a late go-ahead shot versus Utah, Greivis Vasquez scored a team-best 18 points against Chicago, and Ryan Anderson had 12 points and 13 rebounds while starting in Davis' place. Center Robin Lopez leads the team with an average of 2.0 blocks per game and is second in both points (14.3) and rebounds (7.7).

Free Pick: I'm going to go with the Under in this one. The Sixers are very offensively challenged right now, especially will all the injuries they have. Philly has averaged just 85.3 ppg and it will not get easier tonight vs a New Orleans ream that has allowed just 89 ppg in the early going. With the offensive woes you can bet that the Sixers will look to the defensive end even more to try and win this one. They did allow New York to pile up the poiints on them, but this New Orleans offense is not as strong as the Knicks and they have had some injuries as well with Gordon and Davis out and that has led to them putting up just 90.7 ppg so far. Neither team is a running team and both can play great defense, giving this game the look of one that will finish in the low 170's.
