NFL Sunday New Orleans Saints at Denver Broncos: Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Hi-res-153186549_crop_exact

NFL Week 8 continues on Sunday and we will see the New Orleans Saints travel to Colorado to take on the Denver Broncos. The game is scheduled for an 8:20 PM (Eastern) start time and it will be televised live on NBC. Currently the odds for the game have Denver favored by 6.5 points while the total sits at 55.  Currently 59% of the Public is on New Orleans, while 84% is on the Over. Find out what side the Public is taking on all the games by clicking HERE.

Free Analysis: The New Orleans Saints look to continue their reversal of fortune and seek their third straight win after starting the season 0-4 as they head to Mile High to take on the Denver Broncos who are coming off their bye week. The Saints are trying to become the second team since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 to reach the playoffs after starting 0-4, but they'll have to become more balanced on offense. New Orleans is last in the league at 76.2 rushing yards per game. Remarkably, though, its one-dimensional attack hasn't led to Brees getting pummeled by opposing defenses. He has been sacked 12 times, tied for the eighth-lowest total in the NFL. Brees has been outstanding in his past three games, completing 67% of his throws for 1,193 yards, 11 TD and 2 INT (115.2 rating). Five of those TD passes have gone to WR Marques Colston, who has 25 catches and 357 yards over this three-game span. Although New Orleans' rushing defense has allowed the second-most rushing yards in the league (161 YPG), it has been much stronger during the three-game ATS win streak, holding opponents to 106 rushing YPG. The same can't be said for the passing defense though, having allowed the third-most yards in the NFL (305 YPG), including a whopping 348 passing YPG in the past three games. The Saints have done a great job protecting the football recently though, sporting a +4 turnover margin in the past four contests.

The Broncos were a playoff team a year ago by virtue of winning the AFC West and that was with often criticized Tim Tebow at the helm so when the Broncos signed future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning to take over the quarterbacking duties optimism was a “mile high” in Denver. Manning hasn’t disappointed as he has orchestrated some very impressive performances including a week 6 come from behind victory over their division rivals erasing a 24-point half time deficit in what many are calling one of the best comebacks ever. Manning ranks second in the NFL in passer rating (105.0), and has thrown 11 TD and just 1 INT during four straight 300-yard passing performances. Although the Broncos have the fourth-most passing yards in the NFL (291 YPG), the ground game has been held in check for the most part, averaging just 94 YPG (23rd in NFL). Top RB Willis McGahee has not gained 60 yards on the ground in three of his past four games. Denver's defense has been pretty solid this year though, ranking 10th in the NFL by allowing just 331 total YPG. The Broncos have held four opponents to 90 rushing yards or less, and they were able to force more turnovers in the last game (six) than they had in the previous five contests (four). The Broncos have outscored opponents by 73 points in the fourth quarter this season.

Free Pick: I will go with the over in this one. Two elite QB’s should equal a bunch of points. Both teams utilize the no-huddle offense and both QB come in in fine fashion. Drew Brees has thrown for 1193 yards and 11 TD’s in his last 3 games, while Denver’s Peyton Manning has thrown for 298 ypg at home with 7 TD’s and zero INT’s. Denver Averages 31 ppg at home, while the Saints allow 30.3 ppg on the road. This will be a fun game to watch on Sunday night with plenty of balls in the air and plenty of players reaching the endzone.
