The game is scheduled for an 8:00 (ET) pm start time and it will be televised live on FOX. Currently the ODDS have Detroit favored at -147, while San Francisco is dogs of +138. The total for the game sits at 7 runs. Free Analysis: The San Francisco Giants rode their starting staff to a World Series title in 2010 and appear to be following the same script this time around. After Barry Zito tossed 5 2/3 solid innings to best Detroit ace Justin Verlander in Wednesday's Game 1 triumph, Madison Bumgarner did him one better on Thursday in Game 2, tossing seven scoreless innings in the Giants' 2-0 victory. Bumgarner had surrendered 10 runs over eight innings in his first two postseason starts, but was on the mark in Game 2. The Giants will trot out a hot pitcher in Ryan Vogelsong who has allowed just one run in each of his past six starts, posting a 1.42 ERA in three playoff outings. Vogelsong (16-9, 3.19 ERA, 1.20 WHIP in 2012) has led his team to a 22-12 record in his 34 starts spanning both the regular season and playoffs. He had identical pitching lines in his two NLCS starts, allowing one run on four hits in seven innings. But those outings were both at home, and he has been much worse on the road this season, going 7-5 with a 3.77 ERA and 1.26 WHIP. Giant relievers have been strong during the playoffs, going 2-0 with a 2.66 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 46 K's in 47.1 IP.

Detroit has scored only three runs during its two losses in San Francisco, as the team managed just two hits while getting shut out 2-0 in Game 2 at AT&T Park on Thursday night. Detroit has the majors' best home record at 54-31 (.635), which includes eight straight victories, and outscoring playoff foes 18-7 in Comerica Park. Detroit will try to get back in the series behind righty Anibal Sanchez, who has been solid this postseason, going 1-1 with a 1.35 ERA. After giving up a pair of runs in an ALDS loss to the Oakland A's, Sanchez was terrific against the New York Yankees in the ALCS, limiting them to just three hits over seven scoreless innings. Sanchez, of course, was acquired along with infielder Omar Infante from Miami in a midseason deal and went 4-6 with a 3.74 ERA in 12 starts for the Tigers. He ended the year strong, though, and has surrendered two runs or less in eight of his last 10 starts. Sanchez has faced the Giants five times and is 3-1 with a 1.98 ERA against them. His lone loss came earlier this season when he was tagged for five runs in 5 1/3 innings. Detroit's bullpen numbers have been poor during the postseason (4.39 ERA, 1.28 WHIP), but much of that is on former closer Jose Valverde who has allowed nine runs in 2.2 innings this postseason. He gave up four hits and two runs in just 0.1 innings in Thursday's Game 2. Taking Valverde out of the equation, the other six Tigers relievers have a 1.50 ERA and 0.92 WHIP in the 2012 playoffs, striking out 23 batters in 24 innings.

Free Pick: I will go with the more desperate Tigers in this one. Detroit has been excellent at home in the post season, outscoring their foes by an 18-7 count. Detroit has Anibal Sanchez on the mound and he comes in having allowed 2 ER's or less in 8 of his last 10 starts and he has good numbers vs San Fran, posting a 3-1 record with a 1.98 ERA in 5 starts vs them. Ryan Vogelsong has been solid for the Giants, but can struggle on the road and should have a problem keeping this Detroit offense down in this must win situation for them. Detroit takes game 3
