A big time matchup in the PAC-12 conference takes place on Saturday afternoon as the Arizona State Sun Devils welcome in the UCLA Bruins. The game is scheduled for a 3:00 pm start time and it will be televised nationally on FX. Currently the odds for the game have Arizona State favored by a touchdown.

The winner of this game between UCLA and Arizona State will be in soul possession of second place in the PAC-12 South standings behind USC. Both teams enter the game with 5-2 records overall. The Sun Devils come in with an impressive 5-1 against the spread record this season while UCLA has covered four of their seven games.

Arizona State comes in with an impressive offense averaging 38 points per game. However, as good as the Sun Devils have been at scoring points, they've struggled in their two losses with 20 and 21 points against Missouri and Oregon. Defensively, ASU has probably surprised some people this season, allowing just 18 per contest. The numbers with UCLA are pretty similar, however. UCLA scores at 32 points per game on average and also gives up 23 points per game.

However, what sucks for the Sun Devils is their best win came over Cal. UCLA has beaten Nebraska but did get blown out by Cal 43-17 a few weeks ago. ASU beat Cal by 10, but does that mean the Devils are 36 points better than UCLA? Probably not. In fact, highly unlikely. ASU averages 6.2 yards per play while UCLA averages 6.3 yards per play. Both roll up more than 465 yards per game offensively. Defensively, the Devils average more than 100 yards less than UCLA's defense.

The home team has won each of the last four meetings between these two clubs. UCLA won by a single point last season at home, scoring on a late touchdown by Johnathan Franklin. The Bruins were on a bye last week but did beat Utah by a TD two weeks ago. If the Devils don't turn the football over, they could pick up a big win in this game today.

UCLA does like to throw it, but Arizona State sports the best passing defense in the country, allowing just 130 yards through the air per game. They also get to the quarterback, averaging four sacks per game. Some more bad news for UCLA? The Bruins are 0-7 against the number off a conference win the last two seasons.

We like Arizona State to pick up a big win at home today. Whether it be via the sack or holding UCLA from throwing for a ton of yards and scoring points, we expect the defense to come up huge for ASU. In games the Devils have lost, they have turned it over. If they avoid that today, they'll win.
