NFL Sunday football features a showdown between long time rivals Oakland and Denver as each squad looks to get to 2-2 on the season. Start time in today’s AFC West skirmish between the Raiders and Broncos is set for 4:05pm ET at Sports Authority Field; the game will be broadcast live on CBS. Denver opened the season with an impressive 31-19 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers as Peyton Manning connected on 19-of-26 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns in his return to the NFL.
The Broncos and Manning have struggled since, losing on the road to Atlanta and at home last Sunday to the mighty Texans. Since his solid week one outing, Manning has completed just 56 percent of his passes and thrown three touchdowns to three interceptions.
Perhaps he can get back on track this afternoon against an Oakland pass defense that ranks 26th in the league (264.7 pass yards per game allowed). The bigger question, though, is can Denver get back on track?
The Raiders have been their usual sloppy selves this season, but they were able to upend the Steelers 34-31 last weekend and their recent history in Denver is a good one. Oakland has won four in a row as a dog at Mile High and it has covered the number six straight times as a road team getting points from the Broncos.
The Raiders certainly are not a trustworthy bunch, but this line, given how these two teams have played this point, seems a bit askew.
