The Georgia Bulldogs are in Columbia, Missouri today for a showdown with their new SEC East rival, the Missouri Tigers. Start time in tonight’s meeting between Missouri and No. 7 Georgia is set for 7:45pm ET; the game will be broadcast live on ESPN2. Georgia vs Missouri Odds have the visiting Bulldogs listed as a -2 against the spread favorite. Mizzou is drawing even 1-1 odds to win the game outright over last year’s East Division champion. This evening’s game total is presently set at 54.5 points.

The Bulldogs, like their East rival South Carolina, had a sloppy open to the season, beating the MAC’s Buffalo Bulls 45-23 in Athens. Georgia, a 38 point favorite in the game, yielded 347 yards to Buffalo, including 199 rush yards.

While it got things together in the second half, holding the Bulls to just seven second half points, many were surprised by how effective Buffalo was against Georgia’s superior athletes. Perhaps, the Bulldogs were dreaming of Columbia and a meeting with the Tigers. If so they need no longer dream.

Missouri, which blasted Southeastern Louisiana 62-10 in its season opener, is eagerly awaiting the Bulldogs and their ‘old man football’ to quote Tigers defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson. The people of Missouri have been anticipating this moment since the school announced its move to the SEC, and they would love to change the state’s famous motto to ‘Show Them’ if only for a day.

Head Coach Gary Pinkel and his staff are, no doubt, anxious to prove they belong as well. Some have insinuated the Tigers are out of their element and unprepared for their daunting SEC slate. Missouri has bristled at this notion, citing that it played in one of the nation’s best football conferences in the Big 12.

Georgia, given the Tigers desire to prove their detractors wrong, may be the school out of its element on this day. The Bulldogs should have an advantage upfront when their defense faces the Tigers spread attack, though, particularly in the red zone where Missouri’s offense has tended to stall. However, Pinkel’s defense is no slouch either (allowed just 16.6 points per game at home last season) and Georgia could find itself struggling to locate the end zone as well.

Free Pick: Take the Under 54.5 points.

Georgia vs Missouri Odds:

Georgia Bulldogs -2 (-105), Over 54.5 (-110), -120 (Moneyline)

Missouri Tigers +2 (-115), Under 54.5 (-110), +100 (Moneyline)
