The New York Jets will look to close out their preseason schedule with a victory tonight as they square off against the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia (6:35pm ET start time). The odds makers, regardless of what kind of effort New York brings this evening, are not expecting the Jets to remove the zero from their exhibition win column. Tonight’s game total is set at 37 points.

The Jets had an offensive outburst last week against the Panthers, nearly doubling up their point total from weeks one and two of the preseason by scoring 12 points in a loss to Carolina. Despite the fireworks, New York could not find its way into the end zone as Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow combined for two interceptions and a 36 percent passer rating.

Going into the preseason many considered the Jets a playoff team, but their horrendous preseason has some pundits thinking twice. New York has, admittedly, kept its exhibition game plans bland, and it has left the Tebow led Wildcat package under wraps; however, vanilla game plans and the decision not to unveil a part-time offensive package are not the reason behind the Jets offensive struggles. Quite simply, New York lacks sufficient talent on that side of the ball at a number of positions, including quarterback.

Even though it is preseason, that fact should be evident, once again, tonight, particularly in the first quarter or half.

The Eagles Michael Vick could see limited action, at best, tonight, but Philadelphia’s offense should tally enough points to win this contest regardless his reps. Rookie quarterback Nick Foles has shown enough this preseason to warrant confidence in his ability to led the Eagles on a scoring drive or two.

Foles, who played his college ball at Arizona, has thrown for 507 yards and six touchdowns, leading to a 113.6 quarterback rating in his first three NFL appearances.
