Free Analysis: Tampa Bay has lost four consecutive games after dropping the first two games of the series. The Rays are 1 1/2 games out of the American League wild card spots currently held by the Baltimore Orioles and Oakland Athletics. The Rays are batting .194 and have totaled 11 runs during their current losing streak, which reached four after Tuesday's 1-0 defeat - their fourth loss by that score in their last 22 contests. Alex Cobb toes the rubber for the Rays tonight and he has yielded either one run or none in four of his last five starts - all ending in Tampa Bay wins. he right-hander tossed his first career shutout Thursday, a four-hitter with eight strikeouts in a 5-0 victory over Oakland. That was a dramatic improvement from his previous outing, when he was tagged for a career high-tying eight runs and 12 hits - two homers - in 2 2-3 innings of a 10-8 win at Los Angeles. Cobb didn't get a decision in his only career meeting with the Rangers, allowing three runs in 6 1-3 innings of a home victory May 31, 2011. Matt Harrison (15-7, 3.04 ERA) has emerged as the Rangers' most reliable starter in just his second full season in the majors. If he wins Wednesday, he would move into a three-way tie for the league lead with Jered Weaver of Los Angeles and David Price, who was charged with Tampa Bay's 6-5 loss in Monday's series opener. Harrison carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning of Friday's 8-0 victory over Minnesota, eventually leaving after allowing two hits and two walks in eight frames to improve to 4-1 with a 1.87 ERA in his last six home starts. The left-hander fared poorly against Tampa Bay (70-59) on April 27, allowing seven runs and a career-high 14 hits in five innings of an 8-4 home loss. Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre went 0-for-2 with a walk Tuesday after slugging six homers and driving in 13 runs over the previous eight games. Texas closer Joe Nathan has converted 25 consecutive save opportunities. His personal-best streak is 27 straight for the Minnesota Twins in 2004.

Free Pick: We're going to go with the Under in this one. Matt Harrison has been special this year for the Rangers, with a 3.07 ERA overall and a 3.02 ERA at home. He has been very good of late, posting a 1.71 ERA and an 0.67 WHIP in his last 3 starts. He did struggle in his lone start vs the Rays this year (allowed 6 ER's), but that was back in April and in his two previous starts vs them he allowed just 2 ER's in 13 innings. Alex Cobb has had just 1 bad start in his last 9 starts and that was at the Angels back on July 18th. Cobb has allowed 3 ER's or less in 8 of his last 9 starts and 1 ER or less in 4 of his last 5 starts. He did face the Rangers once last year and allowed 3 ER's in 6.1 innings of work. Texas home games this year have averaged 10.24 rpg, but when Harrison is on the mound their home games have averaged just 6.7 rpg, with the Under going 8-1 in those games. We also note that the Under is 13-2 in his night starts, with an average of just 6.5 rpg being scored. This OU line is too high for numbers like that. Look for 6 or 7 runs in this one.
