Hiroki Kuroda has had a pretty good season so far, winning 11 games and having a decent ERA. He's sported an 8-2 record with a 2.30 ERA in his last 15 starts. Josh Beckett, on the other hand, hasn't been very good. He's already lost 10 games this year and has an ERA north of 5. In New York he has been very good lately. He's thrown 30 1-3 innings in his last four starts at home and has only given up three runs. Beckett has been struggling. The Red Sox have gone 2-9 in his last 11 starts, and he has posted a 7.78 ERA in seven outings since the beginning of July. When Adrian Gonzalez isn't being thrown out of games, he's been hot since the All-Star Break. He's clubbing an average of .371 in the 33 games since the break and he's collected 39 RBI in that span as well. Curtis Granderson and Nick Swisher are going to have to have good games against the Red Sox tonight, especially since Mark Teixeira isn't going to be playing.
