The Miami Dolphins travel to take on the Carolina Panthers tonight in NFL Preseason action. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 pm EST start time and it will be televised locally. Currently the odds have the Panthers favored by 3 points with the total sitting at 37.5 points.

Rookie  Ryan Tannehillis getting the start for the Dolphins tonight in just the team's second NFL preseason game of the year. The Dolphins have been searching for a franchise quarterback since Dan Marino hung up his spikes and Miami fans believe Tannehill is that guy. The Carolina Panthers also got their man last year with Cam Newton, who surprised a lot of people around the NFL and fans included when he had an amazing rookie season. Both of these young quarterbacks could be around for a long time and make a major impact on the NFL for years to come. Both teams enter tonight having lost their first games this preseason, so someone is going to get their first win of the 2012-13 season tonight. The Dolphins dropped a 20-7 decision to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home. Tannehill threw for nearly 170 yards in the contest and was easily the most impressive of any of the Miami quarterbacks that saw action. However, the Dolphins weren't able to capitalize on their big yardage advantage and turn them into points. The Panthers dropped a 26-13 game to the Texans in a game that saw the Houston score the only 13 points in the second half. Houston rolled up 375 of offense on the Panthers and dominated the time of possession as well, holding the rock for 37:41. Newton didn't look good and neither did any of the Panthers' talented backs. This game could be an ugly game or it could be one where there are points scored and it's entertaining. We're not entirely sure which yet. However, it's still football and it's still August, so that means it's going to be awesome either way.
