UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson defends his title tonight against former belt holder Frankie Edgar, but the dynamic pair is not the only top tier 155lbs. fighters in action. Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone meets “The Young Assassin”, Melvin Guillard, in a battle of top contenders on this evening’s UFC 150 card (10:00pm ET start time). UFC 150: Cerrone vs. Guillard Fight Predictions at offshore bookmaker Sportsbook.ag are favoring Cerrone, at 3/1 odds, to defeat the heavy handed Guillard. This evening’s fight, which will take place at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado, can be seen live on Pay-Per-View.

Donald Cerrone’s quest for a lightweight title shot could come to fruition this evening should he overcome the always dangerous Melvin Guillard. While Cerrone will not face the winner of tonight’s main event scrap between Henderson and Edgar, he could, with a win, move in line behind the man who will, Nate Diaz.

Cerrone, one of the more talented strikers in all of MMA, has earned top contender status since joining the UFC early last year. The Greg Jackson disciple is 5-1 in the UFC with his only loss coming by unanimous decision against the aforementioned Diaz. Cerrone, who suffered two of his four career setbacks at the hands of current champ Benson Henderson, garnered his UFC wins against Paul Kelly, Vagner Rocha, Charles Oliveira, Dennis Siver, and Jeremy Stephens.

The 29 year old Guillard, a veteran of 40 professional fights, appeared on the verge of title shot in 2011 after recording first round KO’s against Evan Dunham and Shane Roller; however, subsequent submission losses to Joe Lauzon and Jim Miller set “The Young Assassin” back.

Guillard, who owns a 30-10 overall record and a 12-6 mark inside the Octagon, could jump back into contention with a win tonight, though. The Louisiana native rebounded from his losses to Lauzon and Miller with a unanimous decision win over a Fabricio Camoes on July 7th, adding another victory over a tough competitor to his already impressive resume.
