The Raiders may have moved on from the dark ages, but they are still looking for a break through season after recording back-to-back 8-8 campaigns. While fans of the Silver and Black may be expecting the team to take a step forward this year, the odds makers are not. 2012 Oakland Raiders NFL Predictions have the club’s regular season win total set at 7.5 games and the Under is presently favored at -155 odds ($155 to win $100). Oakland is also expected to finish last in the AFC West (+600 odds), making it a +2000 moneyline long shot to win the AFC Championship. Super Bowl Odds for the Raiders are not good either; Oakland is presently drawing 60-1 odds to win its fourth Lombardi Trophy.
The Raiders posted some quality offensive numbers a season ago, ranking ninth in yards and 16th in points per game. Oakland’s defense effectively countered the offensive production, though, by giving up an average of 27.1 points and 387.6 yards per contest.
Oakland retained most of its starters from last year, but it did see a number of contributors depart in the off-season, including Michael Bush, Kevin Boss, Samson Satele, Stanford Routt, and Kamerion Wembley. And while the Raiders did add a few pieces, it would appear they did not improve themselves significantly either through free agency or the draft.
Cantor Gaming, based upon their 2012 NFL regular season points spreads (weeks one through 16), must view the team that way. The Las Vegas book maker has Oakland favored in just four games and listed as a pick’em in one other, its regular season opener opposite San Diego.
