MLB Tuesday Night Philadelphia Phillies at Los Angeles Dodgers: Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Hi-res-148004306_crop_650x440

Tuesday night baseball and we will see the Philadelphia Phillies take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in game 2 of their 3 game set from Chavez Ravine. The game is scheduled for a 10:10 (ET) pm start time and it will be televised live on CSN (Philadelphia) and KCAL (Los Angeles). Currently the odds have Philadelphia favored at 160, while Los Angeles is dogs of +150. The total for the game sits at 7.5 runs.

Free Analysis: The Philadelphia Phillies will vie for their fourth straight victory Tuesday when they welcome back Roy Halladay against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The two-time Cy Young Award winner has been sidelined since May 27 with a right latissimus dorsi strain - and the Phillies have plummeted in the standings in his absence. Philadelphia has shown signs of improvement as of late - and will attempt to secure its first four-game winning streak since May 23-26. Halladay dropped three of his last four starts prior to heading to the disabled list. The 35-year-old has handcuffed the Dodgers in his career, posting a sizzling 4-1 mark with a 1.93 ERA and 1.15 WHIP. Philadelphia activated both Chase Utley and Ryan Howard off the disabled list recently in hopes of turning the season around, but so far the results have been insignificant. The club, which occupies last place in the NL East, is counting on a healthy rotation with Halladay back in the fold to help string some wins together. The Phillies won their third straight game on Monday by handing the Dodgers a 3-2 loss. Howard homered for the first time this season and Jimmy Rollins added a solo home run. Shane Victorino has rebounded after a miserable stretch. After going 2-for-20, the Phillies OF is 6-for-12 in his last three games. Halladay's return couldn't come at a worse time for the reeling Dodgers, who fell for the sixth time in seven outings after dropping a 3-2 decision in the series opener on Monday. The losing stretch has sent Los Angeles to two games behind San Francisco in the National League West. After going 5-for-9 in his first two contests following his return from the disabled list, Los Angeles' Matt Kemp went 0-for-4 in the series opener. Stephen Fife has been called up from AAA to take the spot of Chad Billingsley. The right-hander is 7-5 with a 4.53 ERA with the Isotopes this season and will be making his first career start at the Major League level. THe Dodgers swept a 4 game series in Philly earlier in the year, but after last night's win the Phils have now won their last 6 games here.

Free Pick: Im gonna go with the Phils here. The Phillies are starting to get their injured players back and they may just start putting together some wins and maybe still have a shot at a wildcard spot. Hell the Cards came from way back last year and so can the Phils. Their offense has been playing better of late and despite never having seen Fife they could have a good show vs him tonight, as Stephen went just 7-5 with a high 4.53 ERA in AAA this year. More importantly for the Phils tonight is that they are getting back Roy Halladay. Roy has struggled this year, but he is 4-1 with a 1.93 ERA in 5 starts vs the Dodgers, including a 3-1 mark with a 2.25 ERA in 4 career starts here. Howard hit his first homer last night, the offense is picking up, Halliday is back and the Phils are looking to build momentum for a second half run. All that coupled with the fact that LA is really reeling and you have a recipe for a solid Philadelphia win here.
