One of the newer tournaments on the PGA Tour, the Greenbrier Classic gets underway on Thursday. The Greenbrier Classic odds has Tiger Woods as the overall favorite for the event, with betting odds set at 7/2 as the Las Vegas Hotel (formerly the Hilton) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Woods won last week at the AT&T National event held in Washington, D.C. and is the current leader in the FedEx standings.
Woods has silenced some critics so far this season as he has played exceptionally well on the golf course. Not many thought he would be able to come back from so much time off to play at an extremely high level. Yet, here we are with Woods leading the FedEx points standings and the British open right around the corner.
The Greenbrier Classic is one of the younger tournaments on the PGA Tour. The event is played at The Old White TPC at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. It replaced the long standing Buick Open that was played in Flint, Michigan on the tour schedule. In the first year of the tournament, Stuart Appleby shot a fourth-round 59, the fifth in PGA Tour history, to win the tournament by one stroke. He shot a combined 22-under par for that event as the tournament's first winner. Last season Scott Stallings won the tournament by shooting just 10-under par, which netter him a payday of just over $1 million.
