Wednesday night baseball and we will see the Texas Rangers look for redemption for a 19-2 beatdown they suffered last night as they take on the Chicago White Sox in the Windy City. The game is scheduled for a 7:10 (ET) pm start time and it will be televised live on FSN Southwest (Texas), CSN (Chicago) and ESPN. Currently the odds have Texas favored at -111, while Chicago is a dog of +101. The total for the game sits at 10.5 runs.
Free Analysis: The divisional leaders in the AL Central and West will square off for some Independence Day baseball when the White Sox and Rangers play the second game of a three-game set. After totaling two runs in losing the final two games of their road trip at Yankee Stadium, the White Sox (43-37) looked very comfortable back on the South Side in Tuesday's series opener against Texas. Kevin Youkilis hit his first home run with his new team and Adam Dunn and Alex Rios also went deep in the first inning en route to a 19-2 rout. A.J. Pierzynski also homered and joined Youkilis, Rios and Alexei Ramirez with three hits. The 19 runs were Chicago's most since a 20-6 win over St. Louis on June 20, 2006. Though he insisted he wasn't trying to make a statement, Pierzynski had to be satisfied with his big night after he was left off the AL All-Star team by Rangers manager Ron Washington. Chicago's catcher is 7 for 14 with three homers and six RBIs in his last three games. The lopsided loss ended a four-game road winning streak for major league-leading Texas (50-31), which still owns the franchise's best record through 81 games.Tonight the Rangers will look to Scott Feldman to help them bounce back from last night's horrible loss. Scott Feldman has won his last two starts after dropping six in a row. Feldman defeated the Oakland Athletics on Thursday, holding them to four runs over five innings. He's 2-6 on the season with a 6.13 ERA, while he has faced the White Sox 11 times (5 starts) and is 2-2 with a 4.95 ERA against them. Chicago, meanwhile, will turn to righty Dylan Axelrod, who is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA. Axelrod pitched well enough to get the win on Thursday against the Yankees, but received a no-decision, as he allowed two runs and six hits in seven innings of his team's 4-3 win. This will be his first appearance against the Rangers. Chicago Slugger, Paul Konerko, is 7 for 16 against Texas this season and 6 for 17 with two homers lifetime against Feldman.
Free Pick: I look for a bounceback by the Rangers in this one. The really took it on the chin last night, but they should have a much better showing tonight. The Chicago White Sox are the only division leader playing below .500 at home and the Rangers have been a solid play on the road this year, going 23-16. Scott Feldman has won two in a row after losing his first 6 decisions. He has an 8.06 ERA on the road, but has allowed just 2 ER's in each of his last 2 starts away from home and he is 2-1 with a 3.98 ERA in his last 5 starts vs the Sox. Dylan Axelrod has just 3 starts on the year and in his lone home start he allowed 5 ER's in 5.1 innings to Milwaukee. Does like to hit righties as they score 5.7 rp/9 off of them, compared to 4.9 rp/9 off of lefties. Texas has a lot of pride and you a bet that they will look to bounce back tonight, behind a solid showing from Feldman.
