The Colorado Rockies will attempt to pull even in their four game set with St. Louis tonight when the two clubs square off at Busch Stadium. Start time in this evening’s Colorado Rockies vs. St. Louis Cardinals game two tilt is set for 8:15pm ET. MLB Tuesday Odds have the hosting Cardinals listed as a -150 moneyline favorite ($150 to win $100); the Rockies are drawing +140 odds in what has become a familiar underdog role. The Over/Under in tonight’s ballgame is set at 9.5 runs (Under is favored at -125 odds).

The Cardinals opened up a can on Colorado last night, a happening the Rockies are growing ever more accustomed to, as they topped Jim Tracy’s squad 9-3. Three of St. Louis’ 10 hits went over the wall with Matt Holliday and Allen Craig combining for three home runs and five RBI.

Cardinals starter Kyle Lohse surrendered nine hits in his 7 1/3 innings on the mound, but he managed to limit the Rockies to just two earned runs in garnering his eighth win of the season.

Rookie Joe Kelly will take aim at his second win this evening as he makes his fifth start for St. Louis. Kelly, who sports a quality 3.38 ERA but suspect 1.50 WHIP, worked a total of 12 innings in his last two outings, allowing 14 hits and five earned runs. The 24 year old right hander is 0-0 in two home starts; surprisingly, his ERA at Busch Stadium is a stellar 2.89, despite an opponent batting average of .341.

Countering Kelly for NL West cellar dweller Colorado is one time ace Jeff Francis. Francis started his season in lackluster fashion, giving up 12 earned runs in his first two starts, but he has since found a grove. The seven year veteran has yielded a total of three earned runs in his last three appearances, helping the Rockies go 3-0 in those outings.

Francis is 5-1 with a 3.05 ERA in nine starts (10 career appearances) opposite St. Louis. The most recent of those showings came last May with Francis toeing the rubber for Kansas City. He held the Cardinals to six hits and no earned runs over 7 2/3 innings in a 3-0 Royal win at Kauffman Stadium.

While Francis’ numbers against St. Louis are impressive, it is the Cardinals who have dominated this series of late, taking nine of their last 11 against the Rockies.

MLB Tuesday Betting Trend: The Cardinals are 10-2 over the last two years playing as a home favorite on a Tuesday and coming off a home win.
